Pass and set

November 12th, 2009

Pass is also called receiving the players other than the setter has to receive the ball carefully not only from touching the court, but also should ensure that the ball reaches the setter to his position so that it will be easy for him to set. The can be given in two ways underarm pass or overhand pass. Underarm pass is given by hitting the ball inside the part of the joined arms at waist level. Overhand pass is generally given with the fingertips; the ball is made to seat well in the all fingers and then pushed up. The person who passes the ball will be touching the ball first.
The second touch is done by the setter; the main job of the setter is to make the ball float in air so that it may reach the opponent’s court by the attack. The setter coordinates the team’s defense and the attack. The will decide who is going to attack the ball. The setter is very important in the team; he has to make notice of the positions which there is a gap and the positions were the ball hits the ground on attack.
The set is mostly performed with overhead pass done with finger tips as it has a great control. Sometimes the setter may place the ball such that it reaches the opponent’s court this we call dump. This requires more skills. So setter is very important for a team and has to make other players play well. It seems you all eager to learn attack wait for next post.

Great starters

November 10th, 2009

The victory of Indian team is by the nice game played by the openers. Gambhir and Shewag were doing great things for India. The slow and steady game by Gambhir and the great and big shots by Shewag are doing a great damage to the opponents. It may be one day international or test cricket or twenty 20 these two are going good. They adapt to all sorts of games and giving a good start for the batting side. Gambhir playing nice drives and he is playing all balls in ground shots and Shewag lifting above the fielders inside the circle.

Some more serves

November 6th, 2009

Line Serve-refers to serve when the ball flies in a straight trajectory parallel to the side lines.
Cross-Court serve-refers to serve when the ball crosses through the court in an angle.
Topspin serve-an overhand serve where the ball gains topspin through wrist snapping. This spin causes the ball to drop faster than it appears to a passer receiving it.
Floater-an overhand serve where the ball is hit with no spin so that its path becomes unpredictable. This type of serve can be administered while jumping or standing.
Jump serve-an overhand serve where the ball is first tossed high in the air, then the player makes a timed approach and jumps to make contact with the ball.
Round-House serve: the player stands with one shoulder facing the net, tosses the ball high and hits it with a fast circular movement of the arm. The ball is hit with the palm of the hand, creating a lot of topspin.
Now you would have learned a lot about serves, it is very important to practice more with serves because a wrong serve will give the opponent a point without any efforts. Stay tuned to learn more shorts and strategies.

Is it right to irk Laxman

November 5th, 2009

Australians as usual started problems with Indians in field. But the problem is always the Asians are fined or penalized more. The international cricket council will always penalize Asians more. In this test series, Border- Gavaskar trophy India is in good form. All the tons of Indian players are adding runs to the board. Australians without showing their talents in the game as usual started irking Indians. They started with slightly arrogant Gautham Gambhir, but they now came to unflappable VVS Laxman.Laxman played a wonderful innings and he added his second double century in test cricket and also against Australia. Mitchell Johnson had something with Laxman and he tried to irk him. Is that fair for a player to do like this? Australians always have a habit of irking the opponents and when they do something in counter it will become a great problem and all the problems will be for them and nothing left for Australia. These are not just words, everyone knows very well about Symonds incident. Only Bajji has been suspended. Even know the same thing happened, Watson fined 10% of his fee and Gambhir has been suspended for a match. No one cares about what was Watson’s verbal that provoked Gambhir.

Brett Lee back to form

November 3rd, 2009

Back in disputation for the Ashes with his first five-wicket heave on English soil, Australian fast bowler Brett Lee says he has finally learned the reverse swing, which the England players had used with critical precision during the 2005 series. Lee feels that it was the reverse swing which let them down at the 2005 ashes. The 32-year-old Australian player, who was struggling for his place due to bad form, finally got some relaxation after yesterday’s performance. Lee says that the reverse swing would play a “massive” role in the Ashes starting July 8 and contrary to what is said, he has no problems bowling with an old ball. The pace bowler, who took 5-21 in 40 balls and ended with 5-53 in the tour match, also got appreciated by West Indian fast bowling legend Michael Holding. Everyone has been saying Brett Lee has been injured and coming back into the game he might not be on top of his game but he bowled the fastest ball of the match so far and he has bowled some very very quick spells.

Andy Murray Vs Roddick

November 2nd, 2009

Number three player Andy Murray believes that the player with the superior serve will take over the Wimbledon title this year. Murray is going to be the first Briton to win the Wimbledon title since 1936 if he wins the finals by beating Roddick. He said that if he could keep serving like that (against Ferrero), he has got a good chance against anyone. Murray, however, scoffed at suggestions that he was playing the best tennis of his life. He also added that he would understand that he could lose the next match if he doesn’t play his best. Meanwhile, Roddick also believes that he is equal to the challenge after coming through a classic five-set win over Lleyton Hewitt. The American player had to serve 43 aces before he could finally restrain a dogged Hewitt and he knows he will have to make more of the same to end Murray’s hopes.
